La Abuela y su Nieta
Many beautiful murals grace the walls of buildings along the Camino. Seth, our amazing photographer, captured this masterpiece in Belorado last May on one of our road trips. Hope you like it. It’s one of our favorites.
Painted by Galician-born artist, Luca Goce, it portrays two female figures facing one another, each occupying parallel walls on side-by-side buildings. Although the exact relationship between the elderly woman on the left and young girl on the right is left to our imaginations, the theme is a clear celebration of womanhood and the inter-generational transmission of knowledge from old to young.
The composition also reflects on the organic and ever-changing nature of life and our belonging to the earth. Even as the worm becomes the butterfly, so too, are we in a constant state of metamorphosis. Post your favorite Camino building art on @CaminoConnections on FB or iG and tell us about it. We’d love to see it!
